Mother’s Day, is a celebration honoring mothers and motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society that is observed in different forms throughout the world.
The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914
Anna’s mother Ann Jarvis had founded Mothers’ Day Work Clubs in five cities to improve sanitary and health conditions. Their Clubs also treated wounds, fed, and clothed both Union and Confederate soldiers with neutrality. On May 12, 1907, two years after her mother’s death, Anna held a memorial to her mother and thereafter embarked upon a campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday. She succeeded in making this nationally recognized in 1914. The International Mother’s Day Shrine was established in Grafton to commemorate her accomplishment. Jarvis would later denounce the holiday’s commercialization and spent the latter part of her life trying to remove it from the calendar. While dates and celebrations vary, Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday in May and traditionally involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and other gifts.
Mothers have the most challenging and the most rewarding job in the world. It’s almost a full time job that starts right from the existence of child inside her. It takes real commitment and hard work to be a mother. Being a homemaker, she handle raising children, by starting out in the morning to feed a child and throughout the day handle the children; feeding them, giving them naps, cleaning up their messes, teaching them how to read, write, do math, and other life skills.
Mother is an inseparable and important part of life. She is a teacher to teach ethics and values of life, She is a friend to whom we can turn any time and share all our feelings with a trust that she will back-stab us, She is also a good Advisor because, she is one who teach us not to give up when things get hard and also punish on wrong doing, but will not anyone else harm her Baby.
To be a mother means commitment and sacrifice, the greatest of commitment and sacrifice. Being a mother and homemaker is the greatest and noblest thing that any woman can do. They are energetic and strong woman who has given us the right direction of life. She has a kindly heart to tolerate our mistakes and give us endless love but ask for nothing in return.
She, in real sense is our SUPERMAN.
There are no words in the world that can describe her or everything that she has done for us. But we can definitely try to thank her. We cannot do it by giving her gifts, money, land or anything, the only way to thank her is to give her love, care and happiness.
Whether she’s your own mom, the mom of your children, or just a mom you love and admire, be sure to tell her how important she is to you with a meaningful Mother’s Day gift.
